I recently went to a wedding that was absolutely a wonderful gorgeous event.
It was not the decor, which was the prettiest outdoor, country, shabby chic and tastefully modern setting, it was the friendliness and warmth which the families of the bride and groom and the guests shared with one another. The most wonderful community of friends were celebrating the beginning of a marvelous journey for these two young people.
When I arrived at the event walking through the twinkling gates into the yard of this home, the back of a vintage red pickup was open so guests could deposit their gifts. Against this truck was a reception table with the portrait of the bride and groom with the guest book and a vintage birdcage to deposit cards. There I was greeted by the brides grandmother, who I have known for years, and her sisters.
There were many wonderful tables set up across the way, one with the bride and grooms picture and a stack of paper, so that each guest was welcomed to share some advice with this young couple. the next table was charming as it was a photo booth with props to have some fun taking pictures!
The last table there had several previous generations of wedding portraits of this couples families. It was the sweetest thing.
Looking up from this I was close to the reception line which was so picturesque, as it was right in front of the barn that was decorated up into a dance room!
The family of the bridesmaids and the groomsmen were perfectly attired and the bride the most beautiful I have seen!
The evening was perfect. A wonderful night to begin a new life together.....
May this couple share a life full of blessings and joy!

Pink Paper
Welcome weekend!
This lovely blue flower was created with some recycled paper crumbled up, stacked and attached together with a gold brad. To wear this a pin back was glued to the back.
Can you tell this flower posie was created from a lunch bag? Grab a stack of them and see what pretty flowers you can create!
This flower was created with an old Stanford course description catalog. They are free and available on many street corners in the Palo Alto area. The many layers of petals are attached with a colorful red brad. A loop of elastic was glued to the back to make a fun wrist-let.
This is a very special weekend.
I will be conducting two workshop for girls to create paper flowers and what you can make with them.
I have created some samples to show and share!

The Divine Springtime
Naw-Ruz, which means “New Day”, is celebrated at the vernal equinox,
on the first day of spring. It is a time of joy and celebration, with
the darkness of winter coming to an end and the reappearance of light,
warmth and the beauty of spring’s flowers. It is a day of new beginnings
– of change and hope.
However, for Baha’is, Naw Ruz also has deep spiritual significance. Naw Ruz marks the end of the 19-day Baha’i Fast, which is a period of reflection and profound spiritual reinvigoration for Baha’is. Naw-Ruz was ordained by Baha’u'llah as a celebration of humanity’s “spiritual springtime”: the Baha’i dispensation.
To commemorate this occasion and to share the joy, I created these bright and cheerful pink cards.
Digital text was printed on sheets cherry index and also to sheets of white index. The cherry index was cut and scored to make the body of the card. The white index was punched using a small tag punch.
A digital image was printed on coated cover stock and die cut in a label shape, then mounted on a larger white background cut in the same label shape. Several punches were used with pink, tan and white paper, including a swirl, leafy branch and large and small flowers with the tiny black circles. After these components were glued into place, glitter was glued onto the flowers in the digital image to give the image some sparkle and shine and the finishing touch!
May this New spring season bring many blessings and increase the joy and happiness in your hearts and life!

Follow Your Heart
Recently I have joined an art group whose members create the most fabulous artwork. In an effort to be more creative and share art, I have decided to participate in the "Life Word Prompt". This is a monthly prompt given to create an artistic journal page. I came in on this late, but I have since caught up!
Follow Your Heart |
The word prompt for this month is "Follow your heart". Creating a journal piece is very new to me. I have participated in altering books and find that they are fun and very rewarding. However, looking at a large blank page is quite challenging for me. Generally I am not a heart type of girl...this month's page requirement was to have a heart, and I have found myself taken by them recently. This journal page was colored with dye based ink markers and chalks. I found coloring with the chalks difficult, as I wanted to be shy with the color. However as I look at the work, I feel that I could add more shadows in some areas so that the large heart will look like it will jump off the page!
Live Simply |
Last month the word prompt was "Live Simply". The requirement for this page was to use a stamp. Unfortunately, the page was not complete in time to participate with it. I had a hard time locating the stamp that was used on it. Once found, the tiny dots were added and the page completed...for now.
This page was colored using dye based inks. Text was added with a black Sharpie.
Thank you for taking the time to visit. Follow the link to Paper Traders for more fabulous "Life Word" Prompt Journals. They are very inspiring!

Today I wanted to share the wonderful gifts I received in the mail from the creative blog mistresses who have participated in blog hop giveaways.

The sweet Michele at The Nest at Finch Rest gave away this vintage looking dish. It is a perfect piece to add to the romantic decor of the bedroom. So very lovely and a great pink treasure!
Tee from mixed Media & altered Art created this sweet "Upscale Teacup Pin Cushion" as a prize for the Purple Valentine Blog Hop. It's the sweetest most romantic decoration! A great gift for me as I do love to sew and love vintage notions!

Pink Saturday Girl
This has been a fabulous week in the valley.
The winter weather that surprised us last week has gone and the beautiful sunshine, which brings so many winter visitors here, has arrived. Baseball season is in full swing and a home run was hit right into my mail box as envelopes of altered art arrived!
Recently Paper Traders hosted a Ribbon Doll Trade and I could not resist to play in this challenge. So happy I did as I received the most wonderful trade. She is gorgeous and beautiful and she could not be prettier.
She is so happy to be called the Pink Saturday Gal. I want to thank Jane for creating and sending me this lovely girl.
As for the darling that I sent out ,she is a playful lass, dressed in green. Very sassy and very happy. She was great fun to create.
I know that I will be making more ribbon dolls. They are so much fun to create and look beautiful hanging on the bedroom wall. I encourage you to get creative with your ribbon and try one for yourself!
Before you do there is more fun at How Sweet the Sound, where Beverly is hosting Pink Saturday!
Enjoy!
