Altered Card Chunky Book Swap

This weekend I received a thrilling package in the mail box.

The completed altered cards for the "Altered Card Chunky Book Swap"! The altered cards are really quite imaginative. I am so happy that I was a participant in this creative swap!

This is wonderful Karen's Altered Cabinet card....... As the story goes"Kiki & Klipper Klownshoes" They only appear to be unhappy. They both have frogs in their pockets and will leave the studio to go directly to the Country Frog Hop. Kiki has taken 1st place for 2 of her 5 years.

Fabulous!

Through The Looking Glass

Helga issued a challenge last week to create a piece of art for the next swap. I accepted the challenge and created this card which opens down the center and reveals an Alice and the Queen theme. The front of the card is a mirror surrounded with German Scrap!

Lottery Entry

After a very Social day with friends and family at Ruhi Study Circle, and lunch with the daughters, I was able to create an entry for the ArtChix Bi-Weekly Lottery. This is a folded ATC. The front of the card is made to resemble a red cabinet that you open to see the scene of Asia. I referenced it with all the stunning pictures that Gabrielle brought back from her trip to China.
I love the little Asia Girl from the ArtChix Collage Sheet. I colored her in ,isn't she so cute?

Spring Fling Has Arrived

Spring has arrive in the mail box yesterday.
I could hardly wait to share this most beautiful card which I received amongst the swaps.
It was created by Dani Foster Herring from Baltimore , Maryland. "Lil Blue Bird" Dani created it on acrylic -painted 110# stock and doubled it...The little bird was painted in photoshop with a Wacom pen and tablet. The spring sign was created in Photoshop using Dover clip art. Nesting Materials are ribbons, twine and Irish Moss with a small glass bead for an egg.
The card was tucked in the beautiful handmade envelope with the tiny tag.

I feel so lucky to have received such a beautiful swap.....
Thank you, Dani.

Numbers

Mail with numbers printed on it come in the mail everyday. Usually we don't welcome those envelopes, because those would be the bills. Today I received the best mail with numbers printed on it..... My monthly Rolodex Swap! Numbers being this months theme, these are a few of the beauties that are going to be added to the small Rolodex Gallery. Collecting art this way is both exciting and fun!

Spring Fling

I am passionate about sharing art.
This ATC is my entry for the Spring Fling Challenge.
I have wanted to create a piece with blue and brown and this has been the opportunity. Notice the recycled paper? (Go Green)
It is a wonderful combination.

Tango

The purpose of my trip to Flagstaff was to attend the Tango Concert.
Both the Chamber and Symphony Orchestras participated in the concert and they performed absolutely brilliantly. The orchestras played about nine different Tangos. The trio also performed some very sensuous Tangos along with dancers!
It was well worth the trip as the Concert was delightful. I would have really enjoyed a recording of the concert, as the music was great!
The sad part was the fact that I had to jump in the car and drive through the Enchanted Forest to get home immediately afterward !

Purple Mountains Majesty

It is truly breathtaking when you turn onto the road that leads to to Gabrielle's house. It is very close to the peaks.(off of RT 66) There was snow on the peaks... and it was on the cold side. I actually took a drive to the north side of town to get a closer look at these majestic mountain peaks.

Art In The Mountains

The drive to Flagstaff on Sunday was so pleasant I had to share it.
I pulled off the road at Camp Verde to have a cup of coffee and enjoy the scenic view.
The desert is so beautiful in the spring. It's quite hard to believe that the snow storm in Flagstaff on Friday was so severe, the power went out. It was great that the snow had disappeared by Sunday.

One Inch at a Time

After a morning of exercising with the first Saturday girls, it was time to get down to art business and finish the inchies that are due next week.

The theme of this inchie swap is Celebrating Nature. I thought this would be a great opportunity to use some of the handmade paper that David made!

As you can see I stitched some up, added some lace, made some sweet butterflies and and finished with a lovely pearl.

These were so fun to make. They are headed for Hawaii now!

It has been a busy month travelling to enjoy art as well as being creative and productive everyday.

I was able to enjoy an evening out with friends visiting town to get out of the dreary winter weather up north .

We had a feast for the eyes, ears and tummy at Organ Stop Pizza. We had spent the evening enjoying tunes and each others company while listening to the big Wurlitzer.

The evening inspires me to create an Erte Collage with the beautiful Organ as the inspiration. I think I will create it for one of the swaps that are on my agenda. If you have never gone to see this beauty, it is not to be missed.
