Everything Japanese

Isn't art cool? I was catching up with everyone and there seems to be a consensus that small is the current trend in art, like.... inchies.... Well over the last weekend I had the fortune of attending the FanimeCon in San Jose, Ca. I ran into these cute little treasures. It may look like a Japanese Tea ceremony food selection, but it really is the most tiny erasers you can imagine. And if you would like to try some of these foods...The pancakes stuffed with red bean paste are a real sweet treat!

Sweet Things

I am off to celebrate Sweet 16 with my nephew,
and I am also participating in a swap that depicts
the weekend that I have in store,.
I am off to San Fransisco and spending a few days
in San Jose's Fanime Convention. It should be quite
the weekend. There is 24 hour viewing of Anime and
Asian films. I am so excited to go with Shamim.
It should be a lot of fun, and since it is Anime, it should
be sweet!

Eliza, Dear Eliza......

Almost makes you want to sing your favorite tunes from "My fair Lady " Doesn't It?

Or Maybe ...it's "Welcome to Whoop Whoop!"

Imagine having lush green foliage in your garden!

If you look closely you can see

that I have included a small segment of

Hitchcock's "The Birds" in this composition.

This card is very special.
The contrast between the white and black
of the background and the bright pink center
is gorgeous. It really brings out the beauty of
the single flower.

These little blooms are just so precious-
they have the sweetest of cherries to share.
This sweethearts look like they are climbing
into a rose tree house
or perhaps they are climbing to meet
the giant rose queen.

This is Miss Blossom.
She is feeling rather fragrant today.
~Even her Bee Bonnet would agree.
Of course everything in her life
is coming up Roses.
She remains safe living in her
gated community.

Help! I'm Addicted

This is one of six cards for the ArtChix Art Blast Swap.

It was inspired by that mean goose that bit me, those years ago as I was walking up the path in Wellington. I used an American penny, which is a stamp that has been colored with pencils. It would have been very heavy if I used actual English pennies!

I hope this makes the recipient smile as it does me!

The day was ended with a lesson about the night sky. We looked at many things through powerful telescopes. Saturn was the featured planet. We also identified many stars visible at this time of year.

We had a wonderful time watching these huge birds..... they are so exotic and interesting. They spent the afternoon flying from pond to pond!

This was the area we set up the tents!

It was like having a wildlife theatre performing just for you!!

These birds often hang out in my backyard.
I haven't seen them in awhile.
I am certainly glad that they have
found a home at the riparian!

Had a great weekend,
with the Brownie~Cadette Overnight at the Riparian.
It is a must for anyone visiting the area.

Happiness is Being a Mom

I hope mom's everywhere were as happy today as this mom is!
I would love to be served by her, wouldn't you?

Sewing Project

He is not so photogenic, but he is a cutie and a great beginning project for the girls(9-12 year old) to practice and learn some sewing skills. In fact the girls were so happy because we made them in all assorted colors!

O Friend!

In the garden of thy heart plant
naught but the rose of love..........
~Baha'u'llah
This is my lasted ATC creation.
It was inspired by the Hidden Word #3
from the Persian, for the Red Swap.

The Last of the First

Today was the Last First Saturday Meetings for the Girl Scouts.
It was an exhausting, but an exciting day as the girls got a chance to experience camp with other 1st Saturday Girls in the other Cities in the area.
I helped with the Well Being session today. We made Friendship Hiking Necklaces and we learned about Sun Safety. Each of the 6 sessions had about 35 girls in it.
I will miss 1st Saturdays.... This is a small collection of the patches that were given out over the year.
And a great way to Say Thank You..... Chocolate (I can use it it my somemores)!

Artistic Lumberjacks

It was a beautiful evening to go for a drive, and drive I did all the way up the road to visit the lumberjacks performing their solo pieces at their "Spring Recital".
Jacquelyn's students did a fabulous job playing the selected pieces that they had studied this year. It seemed that each student really enjoyed the music that they had selected.
The audience was great too. They really enjoyed each selection.
I was so grateful that the music was more on the allegro side.
I would have been doomed if there was too much adagio.
Gabrielle did really well performing her Mozart selection ... She had even memorized it!
